Hi, I’m Kimara!

My goal as your therapist is to create a safe space where I may assist you in gaining a deeper understanding of yourself to facilitate positive change. No life is free of pain, but life is too short to constantly feel out of control, lost, or unfulfilled. Self-exploration and skill building through our work together can help you make sense of life's challenges and feel more fulfilled.

With over a decade of experience in mental health, my clinical background includes working with adults, youth, and families in outpatient, hospital, and residential settings. I specialize in anxiety, depression, personal empowerment, overcoming trauma or difficult life events, and maternal mental health. My approach is strength-based and rooted in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), which explores how negative thinking patters are holding you back. I also incorporate Mindfulness, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Attachment theory, and Family Systems theory into my work.

I received my BA in psychology from University of California San Diego and my MA in Marriage and Family Therapy from University of San Diego. As a native San Diegan, I feel privileged to do meaningful work with incredible people in a city I love.
